What RFID Healthcare Software Can Do For Your Office

What RFID Healthcare Software Can Do For Your Office

Whether your office is large and busy or small and growing, making use of RFID tracking and the latest healthcare software can improve your office manager’s ability to track assets, ensure patient safety and control access to patient records.

Overall, your office will run more efficiently and your patients will be better satisfied.  As time goes by, the cost of implementing these systems is recouped numerous times through increased profits.

Security and inventory tracking are big issues for all kinds of companies these days.  Most companies are making use of standard UPC bar codes and other electronic devices.

RFID tags may never fully replace bar codes, but the amount of information that can be stored in them, as well as the distance from which they can be read is superior to any other kind of tracking device.

The pharmaceutical industry is currently making use of the technology.  If you store drugs, medical equipment or similar items in your office, and you have the right programs installed in your office PCs, you or your employees can find out what pharmaceuticals you currently have on hand, without even opening a storage closet.

Accurate tagging and the latest healthcare software programs make inventories a breeze.  In a matter of minutes, an inventory can be verified, printed and placed on your desk.

Studies indicate that this kind of tracking reduces problems with low inventory.  You can be sure that the items you need are close at hand when you need them.

RFID reduces loss and helps to prevent theft, as well.  Your employees’ nametags can be equipped with a tag that allows them access to or prevents them from entering stockrooms.  This practically eliminates drug theft.

If you have a busy clinic, incoming patients can be fitted with wristbands that include chips containing their medical history.  The histories can be read with portable readers.  In hospitals, the use of these wristbands has reduced the number of errors, which improves patient satisfaction and safety.

The latest healthcare software can be used for staffing, payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable.  Programs are available that help doctors treat patients and educate patients about caring for their own health.

RFID tags are being used to keep track of home health care devices.  With the right tools, doctors can ensure that drugs and medical equipment are going to the right patients and staying with them.

In short, healthcare software and RFID tagging is improving the medical industry at all levels and making it easier for you to do your job.

What To Look For In An Online Medical Scheduler?

What To Look For In An Online Medical Scheduler?

When your practice is busy, even the smallest tasks that can be outsourced or automated can make the difference between an environment of “controlled chaos” and an environment rife with headaches and short fuses. Such is the case when a doctor or health professional decides to use the services of an online scheduler, or a solution designed to alleviate some of the routine demands placed upon the front-desk staff of a medical practice.

However, when you, as a doctor or a private practice owner, decide to acquire appointment scheduling or reminder services, what is it exactly that you should be looking for in order for you to get the most out of your investment? Here are five things that you should look for when you’re thinking about investing in an online scheduling service.

An online scheduler should be customizable for a variety of health professions

Not all medical or health professions revolve around providing treatment for sore-throats and sprained ankles; dentists, chiropractors, psychologists, psychiatrists and spa treatment / massage service business owners all provide services that cater to the health and well-being field. Thus, these health professionals should be able to use an online scheduler in the same way that a traditional M.D. can, while providing a way to customize the scheduler to suit their particular needs.

Online scheduling systems should provide privacy and abuse protection

When a medical or health practice allows patients to set their own appointments through an online scheduler, they should only use a system that is designed to offer protection against abuse and protects each and every patient’s privacy so as to comply with HIPPA.

Moreover, the doctor or authorized office staff should be able to set access restrictions for each of the patients.

Choose an online scheduler that acts as an appointment reminder

When you’re looking to make an investment in a scheduling service, it only makes sense to choose one with the best features. When an online scheduler acts as an appointment reminder service, such as sending out email and telephone appointment reminders to existing patients, doctors and health professionals not only can work to boost productivity within their office during business hours, they can significantly cut down on the costs accrued due to no-show appointment revenue losses.

Backups are important with an online appointment scheduler

Even with the best methods in place, technology is sometimes unreliable. While web-based scheduling systems are highly sought after because of their efficiency regarding use and overall cost, having the assurance that you can receive a hard-copy backup of the day’s appointments is a necessary measure, even in today’s world of deep technological advancements.

Online scheduling software should track statistics

While if an online scheduler has the ability to make callback appointments and send out appointment reminders it’s considered beneficial; online schedulers that allow for statistics tracking, such as no-show appointments and cancellations can help you, as a medical business owner, to pinpoint problematic areas in your practice so that you can address them and improve your financial bottom line.

Web-based medical scheduling software can, indeed, be an asset to your medical or health practice. By using these five criteria to identify an online scheduler that will work for you, you’ll not only be improving the efficiency of your practice, you’ll more than likely be adding dollars to your businesses bottom line as well.

Medical Appointment Scheduling Software

Medical Appointment Scheduling Software

Hi Guys,

Over the past few years I had the experience to deal with a few doctors and I decided to compile a list of some things I noticed. I thought I should share it with you guys. If you run a medical practice or in some way are related to a medical practitioner, following steps can help a medical practice.

Keep ‘Em Happy!

Keep your patients happy! If you want your patient to come back to you, you need to put in an effort to please them. These are the people who are sad and upset because of their medical condition. Last thing they need is a grouchy doctor or staff to deal with. I personally went through this. You enter a doctor’s office and see this person sitting behind the window. If the person welcome’s you with a smile and makes you feel comfortable, it makes a whole lot of difference. I guess same is true for any public dealing business but remember patients are the sad customers that are looking for hope and trying to take their mind off of their health issues. Same is true for the doctor. I visited this one doctor for a while and every time this guy would enter the room he looked like if he was upset over something. I so wanted to ask the guy if its me he does not like or is he just mad at life!

Lively Atmosphere

Make your office atmosphere lively! I noticed that every doctor office I visited had this depressing atmosphere. I’m not saying that you should start playing loud music or something but at least have TV in the waiting area or decorate it well so that it does not look like a typical doctor’s office. That 10 to 15 minutes a patient waits outside, they’re looking at the surroundings and no wonder what s going thru their minds. A nice atmosphere can definitely help the patient.

Know Your Patient!

One thing I noticed is that your doctor’s in a race to get in and out of the check up room. I know doctors have a busy schedule but talk to your patient, get to know them. For some patient’s you might be the only person they can talk to. This person believes in whatever you say. For some of these people you might be the next important entity after God!

Follow up Calls!

You should appoint staff to make follow up calls and appointments. If you see that regular patient has not come in for a while, make a call. Find out what’s going on with them. I have high cholesterol and have been trying to lower this damn thing. Last time I got it checked my doctor told me that I should control my diet and he will check it after 3 months again. I think it’s almost been 5 months and no one has called to set up an appointment or anything. I will of course do it myself but one thing that came in my mind was that the doctor does not really care and secondly from a business point of view, he could have made money by my visit.

Patient Privacy

One thing I went through is that every time I would call my doctor’s office to make an appointment, this lady would ask me what am I coming in for? Now, sometimes we all can be in a weird situation, you may want to discuss a colon checkup with your doctor, you might want to get tested for STD’s! These people work at the doctor’s office and they have access to all your records, not sure about you guys but I’am not really comfortable talking about this to the front desk person.

Of course any practice would still work but if you are that doctor who cares about his patients, I believe you are must already be aware of these things. If not, may be you can benefit from this. If you’re looking to automate your patient appointment scheduling, this medical scheduling software can help.
